Try Our Citation Tool on Social Explorer Maps and Reports

WEDNESDAY, JUN 02, 2021

When writing academic and research papers, citing sources is an integral part of any academic work. However, properly citing a source can be a hassle, requiring you to search tirelessly through publications or a website to find the correct citation. We also often resort to using a third-party citation machine or website to help us cite our sources uniformly in the required format.

Thankfully, Social Explorer is here to ease your citation woes with our new citation tool available for both our maps and reports. From now onward, when referencing Social Explorer maps or reports in your research papers, simply use the citation tool to automatically generate citations in the following formats:

  • The Chicago Manual of Style

  • Modern Language Association (MLA)

  • American Psychological Association (APA)

How to Cite Social Explorer Maps

Once you have created the appropriate map you wish to cite, click on the "more info" icon in the Change data menu.

Click on the more info icon to get to our newly added citation tool.

Next, click on the Citation tab in the popup window. Here, you will have the option to choose between three available citation formats. The tool will automatically generate the citation for you, and you’ll be able to copy it for your research and academic papers.

Please note that the data elements have been formatted to meet the latest citation standards. Furthermore, these citations are not a replacement for the latest guidebooks or your instructor's requirements. Double check capitalization, dates, and names and make any necessary corrections.

The citation tool will automatically generate the citation in your format of choice. Copy the citation to use in your academic work.
