WEDNESDAY, DEC 27, 2023

We're happy to announce that we've processed and published the American Community Survey (ACS) 2022 5-Year Estimates. As with everything we do, our goal is to empower data scientists, researchers, and academics with the most up-to-date and comprehensive demographic and census data.

The Power of ACS 2022 5-Year Estimates

The ACS 5-Year Estimates provide a goldmine of data, offering valuable insights on a range of topics from employment and housing to education and population age distribution. Now, with the 2022 data available, users can access even more recent, comprehensive demographic and socioeconomic information.

The American Community Survey (ACS) is an ongoing initiative by the US Census Bureau to gather comprehensive demographic information nationwide. This study covers all 50 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico (known as the Puerto Rico Community Survey). With data collection from approximately three million addresses each year, the ACS provides valuable insights. The gathered data is released as 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year estimates, with the 5-year estimates being the most accurate and far-reaching, though slightly less current.

The ACS 5-Year Estimates provide reliable and comprehensive data collected over a five-year span, ending on December 31 of the reference year. For example, the 2014-2018 estimates include data collected between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2018. These statistics represent demographic characteristics over the entire period, not just a specific year. The estimates are used to allocate over $400 billion in federal and state funds annually, and they are available for areas of various population sizes. Population counts come from the Census of Population and Housing, conducted every ten years, and official population estimates are derived from the previous census and the Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program.
