Primary Election Season: Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota & Washington

After the early primary states and Super Tuesday, voters in 18 states around the nation have weighed in on the Democratic Party presidential candidates. Now we have smaller batches of states on the primary election calendar. The next group to have primaries (on Tuesday, March 3rd) consists of Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota and Washington.

Voting History:

This collection of primary election states includes Michigan, which swung from supporting Obama to Trump. The following Social Explorer maps, based on data from Dave Leip's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections, show the voting trends in the Super Tuesday states from the 2008 and 2016 general elections.

Population:

According to the 2014-18 American Community Survey, these latest primary states range in population from North Dakota (655,268) to Michigan (9,957,488).
