New 2017 American Community Survey Data & Maps Now Available on SocialExplorer.com

MONDAY, SEP 17, 2018

The newly released one-year 2017 American Community Survey is now available on Social Explorer. Fresh from the Census Bureau and now ready for you–subscribers can access this new data through our reports and maps.

The American Community Survey (ACS) is an extensive annual survey administered by the Census Bureau to a sample of about three million households nationwide. In over 200 tables on dozens of topics, the survey includes variables on income, race, ancestry, health insurance, housing, commute time and much more.

For example, New York City's population grew by one percent from 2016 to 2017 (8,537,673 to 8,622,698). During the same period, the foreign born population decreased slightly by 0.2 percent (3,200,219 to 3,194,940).

Explore the new data visually with our new 2017 ACS maps.

Information in the one-year file is available for geographic areas with populations of 65,000 or more. (Please note that the Census Bureau has discontinued the three-year file, but all three-year files through 2011-13 are available on Social Explorer.)

The new five-year file (2013-2017) with more geographic detail will be available on our site in December once released by the Census Bureau.

Learn all about the nation's 325,719,178 people with our new 2017 data today!
