Mobility Trends Across the U.S.

THURSDAY, FEB 25, 2021

Americans – a people on the move? Not as much as you might think, according to a Social Explorer analysis of newly released 2015-19 American Community Survey data. Almost 86 percent of the population lives in the same place they lived a year ago (and more than 97 percent lived in the same state).

The entire population of Loving County, Texas (one of the nation’s least-populated counties), stayed put over the year. People weren’t much keener on moving in Corson County, S.D. (98.7 percent in the same house over the year) or Greene County, Ala. (98 percent). View mobility trends in your county with Social Explorer’s easy-to-use, award-winning mapping tools.
