Slightly more than one-third of Americans worked from home at least part of the last two weeks of August, according to a Social Explorer analysis of the Census Bureau’s experimental Household Pulse Survey. The coronavirus pandemic, which has turned some of the nation’s busiest commercial districts into ghost towns, has most affected office workers in the nation’s capital, where 58.7 percent of people engaged in some form of telecommuting at the end of August. The smallest percentage of people working from home were found in Mississippi (21.7 percent).
