Is a Post-Pandemic Entertainment Boom Coming our Way?

TUESDAY, APR 27, 2021

As the potential end of a yearlong global COVID-19 pandemic draws closer, millions of Americans are likely to want to escape homes for more entertaining venues. That’s likely to be a major shot in the arm (sorry) for millions of people in the entertainment industry who have either been unemployed or underemployed since March 2020.

A Social Explorer analysis of Census data compiled by Easy Analytic Software Inc. based on employment at amusement parks, casinos and other recreational industries finds the places most likely to enjoy a post-pandemic entertainment bounce include Scott County, Minn., a Twin Cities suburb that’s home to a casino, amusement park, speedway and Renaissance Festival; Bucks County, Penn., a tourism center for the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions; and Lincoln County, N.M., which hosts Ski Apache and Ruidoso Downs Race Track & Casino. Use Social Explorer’s award-winning, customizable maps to discover the counties where post-pandemic entertainment employment is most likely to pick up near you.

Index is measured in relation to a neutral level of 100. Index values above 100 indicate that key industry indicators are in a period of expansion, while index values below 100 represent a period of contraction for key industry indicators.
