Adhering to our commitment to offer the latest, up-to-date data, we have recently added the Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics (LEMAS) dataset to our platform. This survey collects data from a nationally representative sample of general-purpose agencies, i.e., local and county police departments, sheriffs' offices, and primary state police agencies.
The new LEMAS dataset on Social Explorer provides insights into law enforcement workers' racial composition in 2007 and 2016, allowing you to discover how trends in recruitment have changed over the decade. The dataset also provides data about full-time sworn officers by race in 2007, 2016, and the change over this period.
The LEMAS dataset can be found within our Black Lives Matter Protests Dataset in the 2020 year category. Easily access and explore this dataset through our reports or mapping tool.
